Fisher Lake Residence

Fisher Lake Residence

Nestled on a slender wooded peninsula in northern Michigan, this home enjoys an idyllic setting of cedar trees and water on three sides. For years, our clients have cherished summering in their charming A-frame here, but as their family and circle of friends grows, the space does not accommodate as well. Now, they’re looking to make this their retirement haven and a home built to last for generations.

Site Strategy

Due to extensive wetland areas on this site, the buildable area was very limited and became one of the primary driving factors in the layout and design of the home.  Public spaces are located to the south to take advantage of the beach side of the site, while private areas of the home are located to the north and east zones of the site to enjoy the private and tranquil views of the water.

Floor Plan Strategy

The design for this home splits the floor plan into 3 distinct zones connected by glass hallways.  The west zone of the home holds the service areas and guest bedrooms of the home.  The center zone of the plan holds the kitchen, dinging, and living spaces of the home as well as the formal entry.  The east and most private zone of the home holds the master suite and library spaces.
