Some sites have a lot more constraints than others though, and understanding those constraints early in the design process is critical to the success of the project.

Taking in the last of the fall colors on our Lower Shore home before the snow transforms it all over again. We are loving the autumn palette of warm light, soft shadows, moody skies, and the textures that come alive against the home.
Each season reveals a new dialogue between structure and setting. Fall reminds us how architecture can both frame and be transformed by nature’s changing tones. Soon, the clean lines will meet snowdrifts and stillness, another story in the life of this place.

Excited to share our Hutchins Lake Project!
Just completed for a family from Chicago who grew up spending summers right here on this lake. When a site with an old home in need of a lot of work came up for sale, they saw an opportunity to bring their memories full circle by creating a new modern retreat in the place that means so much to them.
This home is all about connection - to the water, to family, and to the memories that inspired it.

On this bluffside site, Lake Michigan hides just beyond the bluff line, so we lifted the main level to meet it. By raising the living spaces, the home connects with the horizon, framing the water through the canopy and making every sunset part of the daily rhythm.

Visited the Turtle Point job site over the weekend, and Northern Michigan in full fall color is truly something to behold.

On site yesterday meeting for a new project - one of our favorite parts of the process.
Before we ever put pencil to paper, we love getting to know the land, the context, and the people we’re designing for. Walking the site gives us a deeper sense of the environment and how the future home can respond to it and we are pretty excited about the rolling topography and views on this one!

Nestled in the dune grass on the shore of Lake Michigan, this modern lakefront retreat is a striking example of contemporary luxury: clean lines, floor-to-ceiling glass, and sweeping views that bring the natural beauty of the dunes and water into every room. The home’s unique H-shaped layout creates a series of intimate courtyards, offering both seclusion and seamless indoor-outdoor living while carefully framing select views of the lake and landscape. Every element was designed with intention, from the material palette to the way light moves through the spaces, resulting in a home that feels grounded, private, and connected to its surroundings.
