It’s 2012. And this blog has been staring me in the face the last couple of months looking like it’s that toy that only got played with for about 3 days after Christmas. So, that’s going to change for 2012. I have a bunch of ideas rolling around in my head for what the vision and message of this blog is going to be, but one of the big parts of it is going to be pulling back the curtain so to speak of what architecture is all about – everything from working with an architect, interviews with some builders, what we do, how we do it, and who knows what else. Basically, the goal is to create a discussion (and that reminds me, I need to get the web guys to turn on the comments) on design, architecture, construction, and why we think good design makes life so much better.
So what has been going on the last 6 months that has been keeping us so busy? A lot, actually. Moving the office, a few new projects, finishing old projects, and even adding another architect to the staff here at Lucid. Some of the projects we have been working on include a new residence for a great couple from Chicago on Allegan Lake (the image above is from our trip to the site to do a rough staking with the client and builder), a residence on the Kalamazoo River for a couple currently living in London, England, a residence for a family that has just moved back to Holland after living in Seattle for a few years, and a residence for a family in Hamilton. On the commercial side, we assisted on a small project for LongRange Archery with the build-out of their new archery pro shop late this summer handling the documentation to secure permits, and working on the interior layout and custom decorative details of the store. We have also been working hard on Mindset Properties, aka Gazillion and One, as they have finally completed site acquisition, and we have been working on a new design for their office that will move them back to downtown Grand Haven. Look for updates to the website in the next few days with imagery on all of these projects.
Feel free to check back here often, and until we get the comments turned on, drop us a note and tell us what you think about what we are doing here.
