With the snow coming at us sideways, it was definitly not the ideal day for a site visit. But, with clients in from out of town, we were left with little choice but to pull the hats and gloves on, zip up the coats, and tough our way through it.
One of the most important aspects of any design for a building, and where the skills of the architects at Lucid can really shine is integrating the design seamlessly into a site. That isn’t always a big challenge, but throw in some water, a 25′ grade change, a long narrow building envelope, and it begins to get just slightly more difficult. One of the priorities for today was to get a better feel for the topography on the site, and where in the building envelope the house should be generally sited. Oftentimes, as it was today, it is a balancing act between the topography, natural vegetation, views into and out of the site, and site regulations. Stay tuned to see how the design of this residence progresses.
